In this world, people seek success in sexual activities. That is why they worship gods. Naturally, they quickly get the fruits of sexual activities in this world.
Purport: There is a great misconception about the gods or demigods in this material world. Although ignorant people pretend to be great scholars, they consider these demigods to be different forms of God. Actually, the demigods are not different forms of God; they are different aspects of God. God is one, but there are many aspects. The Vedas say, “Eternally and eternally, God is one.” “Eisvarah Paramah Krishna:” The Supreme Lord is one, Lord Krishna, and the demigods are given powers to rule this material world.
All these deities are living entities with different levels of material power (nityanam). They cannot be equal to the Lord, i.e. Narayana, Vishnu or Krishna. Anyone who considers God and the deities to be on the same level is called an atheist or a heretic. Even the great deities like Brahma and Shiva are not equal to the Lord. In fact, the Lord is worshipped by the Brahma and Shiva deities (Shiva virinchi nutam). Yet surprisingly, many human leaders are worshipped by the ignorant under the misconception of attributing human form to the Lord or attributing animal form to the Lord. The word “ihadevatah” refers to a powerful man or a deity in this material world. But Narayana, Vishnu, or the demigod Krishna is not of this world. He is above and beyond the material creation. Even the foremost of the immaterialists, Sripada Shankaracharya, says that Narayana or Krishna is of this material creation. Yet foolish people (with heart knowledge) worship the demigods because they want quick results. Even if they get results, they do not realize that the results they get are temporary and are meant for the foolish. An intelligent person is in Krishna consciousness; he has no need to worship the lesser demigods for some immediate, temporary benefit. The demigods and their worshippers of this material world perish with the dissolution of this world. The boons of the demigods are material and temporary. The material worlds, the gods, and their worshippers, along with the people who inhabit them, are like bubbles in the ocean of the universe, yet in this world, humans are madly in love with the temporal possessions of land, family, and luxuries
