You can find the Alight Motion app on my Telegram and WhatsApp channels; the links are down in the description. Now, let’s get into the editing breakdown.
I won’t stretch out the breakdown too much. First, let me show you the photos I generated. Since many of us are introverts, we rarely have more than one or two personal photos ready to use. Because of that, I took a single photo and generated multiple variations from it. Let me show you those photos first so you can get an idea.
For example, take a look at this picture. It features an old vintage classroom setup with a slightly tight, relaxed shot that captures a lonely vibe. There are several styles included here. It doesn’t have to be just this specific one; you can choose and edit whatever style sets the best look for your own photo. I generated quite a few variations, but I am only showing you one or two examples here. Look at all of these options. There are so many styles available. I won’t give you the exact generated video files, but I will provide two generated sample photos and the AI prompts below this video so you can check them out.
Look over here at the first one I generated. I’ll drop this prompt in the description. You can take this text alongside your own photo and head over to an AI image tool. If you upload your photo and feed it to ChatGPT or a similar tool, it will generate a stunning, high-quality image for you.
However, we don’t just need a single image; we need multiple photos featuring different poses. Having a variety of poses makes the edit look much more dynamic. As I showed you earlier, sticking to just one pose can get a bit boring. That’s why I went ahead and created a variety of these photos last night. They turned out beautifully, especially the classroom-themed ones.
Let me give you a quick tip so you don’t even have to worry about writing complex prompts. Here is a simple idea: just upload your photo. Once uploaded, you can literally type your request in Telugu. For instance, I typed my prompt in simple Telugu. I just asked it to create a shot of a boy looking alone inside a classroom based on the uploaded photo. Type it out naturally in Telugu, telling it to “make a photo like this,” and the AI will understand and generate it perfectly.
After that, you can set your preferred aspect ratio. To get a deeper, more artistic feel, you just need to keep a few basic details in mind. Mention elements like an “old classroom” or a “vintage classroom setting” to elevate the visual appeal. You should also specify lighting, like “warm sunlight,” to give it a rich cinematic aesthetic. Go ahead and generate your images based on those details.
Now, let’s dive into our main task: the editing process. First, we will open a new project. If you don’t want to build it from scratch, I’ve provided the ready-made project template link below. If you face import errors, watch the troubleshooting video I mentioned.
First, I’ll head over to the audio section to add the track. If you have a video file instead, you can just extract the audio from it. Now, listen closely to the track and mark the beats. Setting beat markers will make your workflow much easier. Let me play it as an example to show you how it works. Doing this ensures a clean, fast, and highly synchronized editing process. You will easily know where to transition your photos and how long each one should stay on screen. Simply click on the timer bar to place these red beat marker lines.
Now let’s begin the core editing. Click on the plus icon at the bottom, go to Media, and select your first photo to add it. You can use any photo you like. For this demonstration, I’ll add this specific photo and align it perfectly with the first beat marker. If you need to scale or zoom into the photo a bit, go ahead and adjust it. I’ll zoom in slightly on this one.
Next, create a duplicate layer of this exact photo. For the top layer, we only want the subject without the background, so we need a PNG cutout. Since Alight Motion doesn’t have a direct, clean background removal tool, we will use an external app called PhotoRoom. You can easily download PhotoRoom from the Play Store. Alternatively, the exact version I am using is available on my Telegram and WhatsApp channels. Upload your photo into the app, and it will automatically erase the background for you.
Sometimes the automatic cutout might miss a few spots. If that happens, go to the ‘Edit Cutout’ option and zoom in. Select the ‘Restore’ brush tool to manually bring back parts you want to keep, like the details of the desk or bench. Let’s clean up this bench area so it looks prominent. Perfect, this looks great. Now save the transparent cutout image to your gallery.
Now jump back into Alight Motion. Since we already duplicated the photo layer earlier, select the top layer, head to ‘Color & Fill’, and replace it with your new PNG cutout. Sometimes the replacement feature bugs out and doesn’t update properly. If that happens to you, simply add the PNG cutout as a completely new layer, copy it, and then delete it. Next, tap on the original photo layer you want to replace, click the plus icon, and tap the arrow next to ‘Paste Style’. Turn off all the option switches except for ‘Color’, and then hit paste. The image will swap perfectly.
Now that it’s changed, select this PNG layer, go to Effects, tap ‘Add Effect’, and navigate to the ‘Drawing & Edge’ category. Select the ‘Glow Scan’ or outline effect from the top list and apply it using the standard settings to generate an outline around the subject. I will change this outline color to pure white. If you want to tighten the look, adjust the width settings, though keeping it slightly separated usually looks better.
To give it a cooler aesthetic, we want to add animated cut slices or fragments across the line overlay. Go back, tap Effects, select ‘Add Effect’, and choose the ‘Procedural’ category. From there, select the ‘Stripes’ effect and apply it with standard settings. Once the stripes appear on your screen, select the effect and increase the ‘Count’ value significantly to get a high number of cuts.
Now, we need to hide the base color blocks of the stripes so only the spacing cuts remain. Scroll down within the effect settings and change the stripe color to black, or keep it as is, because we will toggle a different option anyway. Look for the ‘Punch Out’ toggle switch and turn it on. This will instantly crop the stripes out, leaving a clean, segmented ring effect around your subject.
To animate this look, go to the ‘Phase’ or ‘Angle’ setting. Add a keyframe at the very beginning of the layer and another keyframe at the end, then slightly change the angle value. This introduces a smooth, continuous rotating motion to the segmented outline. Now, duplicate this layer one more time.
Select the topmost duplicate layer and remove all these newly added outline effects to return it to a clean look. Go back to Effects, select ‘Add Effect’, and open ‘Color & Light’. Select the ‘Saturation/Vibrance’ effect, add it with standard settings, and drag the saturation slider all the way down to the negative maximum. This turns just the isolated subject layer black and white, while the rest of the background scene remains fully colored. Since we are editing a moody, short-form lyrical video, a black-and-white contrast works beautifully. However, you can keep it in full color if you prefer that style.
As you can see, the animation runs flawlessly and looks great. Now we can start adding the text lyrics over it. To get the lyrics, you can simply search for the song title on Google and copy the lines directly. Open the Text tool in Alight Motion and type out the first word, which is “Gaayame”. Trim any extra duration to fit the beat marker, and select your custom font. I have provided the download link for this specific font below the video. Set the text color to pure white and position it near the top or wherever it looks best on your image. To make it blend smoothly, go to Effects and add the ‘Fade In/Out’ transition. Adjust the ‘Fade Out’ slider down to zero so it only fades in, or you can manually animate it using custom keyframes.
Now duplicate this text layer. Tap the plus icon, select duplicate, and edit the text for the next line: “Kaayame Kaanive”. Your first set of lyrical animations is now fully created. To speed up the rest of the project, let’s copy these layers. Long-press on the layers to select them until you see the green checkmarks, then copy the batch. Move down the timeline to the next beat marker and paste them.
Now you can swap out the background and subject layers for your next photo sequence. Let me show you how. Select the lower background photo layer, go to ‘Color & Fill’, and choose your next original base image to swap it. Do the exact same for the upper subject cutout layer using the corresponding new PNG cutout that we prepared earlier. If the image replacement glitches out like it just did for me, use the style-pasting trick I explained earlier to fix it easily.
Once replaced, the new sequence will automatically inherit all your rotating outlines and black-and-white color effects. You just need to tweak the positioning of the new lyrics slightly so they sit nicely in a different spot for variety. Keep updating the text content to match the song. Continue this exact process across the remaining beat markers for the entire duration of the audio track.
Since I’ve shown you the step-by-step method for the first few segments, I’m confident you can easily complete the rest on your own.
