“Man should only follow the order Edit113

s of the Lord and his powerful seers. Their teachings are all-beneficial to us, and they have been implemented in a wise manner. However, man should beware of their tricks. No one should try to imitate Shiva.” Poisonous

We should always recognize the status of the gods, that is, those who are supreme and can control the movement of the sun and moon. Otherwise, no one can imitate the supremely powerful gods. He drank poison as vast as the ocean. But anyone who tries to drink even a small portion of ordinary poison will die. Many devotees of Shiva have taken to smoking ganja and using such drugs. They forget that by imitating the activities of Shiva in this way, they are calling him closer to them. Similarly, some false devotees of Sri Krishna complain about their inability to lift the Govardhana mountain and try to imitate the Rasalilas, that is, the love dance of that god. Therefore, it is better to follow their teachings than to imitate the powerful ones. Not only that, but one should not even occupy their positions without being qualified. There are many incarnations of God who do not have divine power.

Saktaha Karmanyavidvamso yatha Kurvanti Bharata | Kuryaad Vidvamstatha Saktaashchikirshurlokasangraham ॥

saktaḥ – being interested; karmani – in actions; avidvaṃsah – ignorant; yatha – which kurvanti – does; bharata – O descendant of Bharata; kuryat – without fail; vidvan – scholar; tathā in that way; asaktaḥ – without attachment; chittu – to lead; lokasamgraham – the common people.

Just as palmers perform their actions with interest in the fruits, so too should a scholar apply himself in a similar, but unbiased, way to guide people on the right path.

PURPORT A person in Krishna consciousness and a person not in Krishna consciousness are distinguished by desires. A person in Krishna consciousness does not do anything that does not contribute to Krishna development. He is very attached to material activities.

It is necessary to practice Krishna consciousness in one’s work like Maru.

The difference of mind is the ignorance of the ignorant: ignoring everything.

Brahma – of spiritual nature; arpanam – offering; brahma – Brahma; saniḥ – ghee; brahma – spiritual; agnau – in the sacrifice; brahmaṇa – by the soul; hutam – offered; brahma – the spiritual world; eva – certainly; tena – by him; gastavyam – is obtained; brahma – spiritual; karma – in karmas; samadhina – completely absorbed.

The recipient is Brahman, and the offerer is also of the same spiritual nature. Therefore, by fully surrendering to spiritual activities, a person who is engaged in Krishna consciousness will certainly attain the spiritual world.

PURPORT Here is explained how the activities of Krishna consciousness ultimately lead one to the spiritual goal. There are various types of activities in Krishna consciousness. All of them are explained in the following verses. But for now, only the principle of Krishna consciousness is explained. A conditioned soul, caught in material contamination, must work in the material environment. However, he must get out of that environment. The process by which a conditioned soul can get out of that material environment is Krishna consciousness. For example, a patient suffering from diarrhea caused by excessive consumption of milk products can be cured with another milk product, namely curd. A conditioned soul who is attracted to the world can be cured by Krishna consciousness, as stated here in the Gita. This process is generally known as yajna, that is, sacrificial work intended for the pleasure of Visnu or Krishna. The more the activities in the material world are carried out in Krishna consciousness, that is, only for the sake of Visnu, the more the atmosphere becomes spiritual with complete devotion. Brahman means spiritual. The Lord is spiritual, and the rays of His divine body are the Brahmajyoti, that is,
