VN allows you to place manual markers to visual beats while listening, providing clear target lines for timing footage cuts to the rhythm of the track. Set your initial background music volume around 30 to 35 percent so it remains subordinate to speech.
Balance overall volume by isolating your main dialogue first. Open the volume panel on a primary clip to balance speech against the background music slider. Once speech sits clearly at full strength without distortion, tap “Apply to All” to roll the identical audio profile across every primary clip on the timeline. Mute or lower native audio on B-roll clips individually to prevent accidental audio overlap.
Color correction comes next. Select a clip, tap “Filter,” and either apply a pre-made grade or enter the “Adjust” tab to fine-tune manually. Balance the exposure, warm or cool the color temperature, increase vibrance to restore skin tones, and adjust contrast to preserve dynamic range. Press and hold the preview monitor to verify adjustments against the raw footage, then select “Apply to All” to equalize the visual profile across the entire project.
VN also offers creative pacing tools like the speed curve editor, allowing smooth transitions between 1/8x slow motion and 8x acceleration using keyframe ramps or presets like “Jump Cut.” If you need to repurpose content for vertical platforms, adjust the aspect ratio to 9×16, customize the background with blur or solid fills, or crop the shot to fit, then apply across the sequence. When finished, hit “Export.” The “Auto” mode exports a match of your source clip settings, while “Manual” mode unlocks control over resolution up to 4K, custom frame rates, and export bitrates. Keep the app open on your screen until the render reaches completion.
