can we change those thoughts from physical energy to spiritual energy? There is a lot of literature like dailies, weeklies, novels that are filled with thoughts about nature. At present, that is why many Vedic texts like Puranas have been written by the great sages. Puranas should direct our thoughts, which are embedded in this literature, towards the essence of the Vedas. They are not fictional, they are historical events. That is why the following verse is said in the Chaitanya Charitamrita (Madhyalila 20.122):
The life that is not immersed in illusion is not self-knowledge of Krishna. The life is the grace of Krishna, the Vedic Purana.
The forgetful living beings, the conditioned beings, have forgotten their relationship with God. They are absorbed in the contemplation of material affairs. To divert their thinking power towards the spiritual sky, Krishnadvaipayana Vyasa gave a large amount of great Vedas. First, he divided the Vedas into four parts and then explained them in the Puranas. Then, for the incapable people, he wrote the Mahabharata. In the Mahabharata itself, the Bhagavad Gita was given. Later, the entire essence of the Vedas was summarized in the Vedanta Nutras. Later, for future guidance, Vyasa gave the natural commentary on the Vedanta Sutras, namely the Srimad Bhagavatam. We should use our mind in studying this Vedas. Just as secular people devote their minds to reading newspapers, magazines, and other secular literature, we should turn to reading the essence given by Vyasadev. In this way, we can remember the Supreme Lord at the time of death. This is the only method that has been prescribed by God. God guarantees the result, saying, “There is no doubt about it.”
Tasmat Sarveshu Kaleshu, remembering his mother, and fighting with her, mayarpitamanobuddhirmamevaishyasya saṃsāyaḥ ॥
“Arjuna! Therefore, you should always remember Me in the form of Krishna and at the same time perform your duty of fighting. By offering your actions to Me and fixing your mind and intellect on Me, you can undoubtedly attain Me
The Lord did not advise Arjuna to give up his profession just for the sake of penance. He never advises anything impossible. In this material world, man has to work for his sustenance. Human society is divided into four classes, namely, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Esyus, and Shudras, based on karma. The Brahmin class, that is, the intellectual class, works in one way. The Kshatriyas, that is, the ruling class, works in another way; the merchant class, the Shudras, perform their own special karma. Whether a person in human society is a Shudra, a merchant, a ruler, or a farmer, or a member of the highest class, a literary figure, a scientist, or a theologian, he has to work for his sustenance. Therefore, there is no need to give up his profession. But Lord Krishna advised Arjuna to remember Him (Mamanusmara) while engaged in his profession. If he does not practice Krishnasmarana during his life, then Krishnasmarana will not be possible for him at the time of death. Lord Chaitanya also advised the same thing, saying, “Keertaniyah sada Harih.” That is, one should always practice chanting the name of the Lord. The name of the Lord and the Lord are one and the same. The advice given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna, “Therefore remember Me,” and the advice of Lord Chaitanya, “Always chant the name of Krishna,” are one and the same advice. There is no difference between them. Because Krishna and the name of Krishna are one and the same. In the perfect state, there is no difference between the application and the person being applied. Therefore, we should make it a habit to remember God twenty-four hours a day by chanting the names of God and by shaping our lives in a way that always remembers God.
How is this possible? The teachers have given the following analogy. It is believed that if a married woman is attracted to another man or if a man is attached to another woman than his wife, that attachment is very strong. A person with such attachment is always thinking about his beloved. A married woman who thinks only of her beloved is always thinking about meeting him even while doing household chores. In fact, she does household chores more carefully so that her husband does not have any doubts about her attachment. Similarly, we should constantly remember our beloved Lord Krishna, and at the same time, we should manage our material affairs well. A strong feeling of love is needed here. For
