The best way to get out of that dilemma is to establish it. The word “he” is used to say this. It means that a person should not miss it. It is also said in this way:

The reason for our human existence is the liberation from bondage.

“The mind is the cause of bondage for man, and the mind is the cause of liberation. The mind attached to the senses is the cause of bondage, and the mind, detached from the objects of the senses, is the cause of liberation” (Amritabindu Upanishad 2). Therefore, the mind established in the concept of devotion to Krishna becomes the cause of supreme liberation.

The enemy of the self is the enemy of the self.

bastuḥ — friend; atma — mind; atmanah — to the living entity; tasya — to him — by whom; atma — mind; eva — certainly; atmana — the region is conquered by the living entity; anatmanah — to one who fails to conquer the mind; tu — but shatrutve — because of enmity; vartheta — remains; atma eva — that masva shatruvat — like an enemy.

To the one who conquers the mind, the mind is the best of friends. But to the one who fails to do so, his mind remains his greatest enemy.

Explanation: The purpose of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga is to control the mind in order to make it a friend in carrying out the work of human life. If the mind is not controlled, the practice of Yoga (for show) is only a waste of time. He who cannot control the mind lives in communion with the greatest enemy of all. Thus his life and its work are ruined. Obedience to the Supreme is the natural state of the living entity. As long as the mind is an invincible enemy, man has to obey the commands of lust, anger, hatred, and delusion. But when the mind is conquered, he freely agrees to obey the command of God, who is the Boon Soul in everyone’s heart. Having met the Supreme Soul within the heart, he

consciousness, there is no attachment to sensual activities. Otherwise, a person would not live without some activity. He would always be engaged in activities for himself or for his family. But a person in Krishna consciousness, acting only for the pleasure of Krishna, is completely detached from sense gratification. One who does not have such a feeling must mechanically try to escape from material desires before reaching the last step of the yoga ladder.

The soul is the one who is free from the bondage of the soul, the

The mind is both a friend and an enemy to the living being.

One must uplift himself with the help of his mind, otherwise he will fall.

, the mind and the conditioned soul are particularly important. Since the mind is the central subject in the practice of yoga, the soul here refers to the mind. The purpose of the system of yoga is to control the mind and pull it away from interest in sense objects. It is emphasized here that the mind must be trained as a pull to pull the conditioned soul out of the mud of ignorance. In material existence, man is under the influence of the mind and the senses. It is because the mind is filled with false pride, wanting to dominate material nature, that the pure soul is actually entangled in the material world. Therefore, the mind must be trained so that it is not attracted to the charms of nature; in that way the conditioned soul is saved. One should not bring oneself down by attraction to sense objects. The more one is attracted to sense objects, the more one becomes entangled in samsara. Always keep the mind in Krishna consciousness.
