PURPORT A person who is situated in Krishna consciousness immediately understands his own spiritual nature. Then he can understand the Lord through devotional service. When he is well situated in devotional service, he becomes eligible to attain the divine status and experience the presence of the Lord in his sphero of activity. This unique position is called liberation in Brahman.

After explaining the above principle of attaining salvation in Brahman, the Lord instructs Arjuna about the method by which a person can reach such a state through the practice of yoga (Ashtanga Yoga). The Ashtanga Yoga is divided into eight types of methods: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. The subject of yoga is clearly explained in the sixth chapter. It is only mentioned in the beginning at the end of the fifth chapter. Through the Pratyahara method of yoga, a person should drive away the sense objects of sound, touch, form, taste and smell. Then he should fix his eyes between the two eyebrows and focus them on the tip of the nose with half-closed

eyes. There is no benefit in closing the eyes completely. Because then there is a possibility of falling asleep. Even if the eyes are completely open,

there is no benefit. Because there is a danger of being attracted

by the objects of the senses. The air flowing up and down in the body should be balanced and the breath should be held in the nostrils. Through such yoga practice, a person can gain control over the senses, keep away from external objects, and thus prepare himself for salvation in Brahman.

This method of yoga helps a person to free himself from all forms of fear and

anger, and thus experience the presence of the Supreme Being in a divine state. In other words, Krishna consciousness is the easiest way to follow the Yoga Sutras. This will be explained

The question is answered here. To work in Krishna consciousness as the Supreme Personality of Godhead means to work in Krishna consciousness. Such knowledge-yoga is the path leading to devotional yoga. Krishna consciousness is not different from transcendental knowledge. The perfection of devotional consciousness is direct Krishna consciousness, the perfection of Krishna or Lord. It means to work with full knowledge of the relationship that exists in Visuddha. He comes into contact with illusion by desire. This is his constant slave of the Lord as a result of his many difficulties. The reason for his domination over illusion is that as long as he is in contact with material matter, he has to perform work for the sake of material existence. Even though he is in the realm of nature, Krishna consciousness brings him into spiritual life. Because it awakens the spiritual being through practice in the material world, and the more one progresses in it, the more the illusion of maya is revealed. God is not partial to anyone. Everything depends on one’s actions in Krishna consciousness. Controlling the senses in various ways and overcoming the influence of lust and anger helps him. One who controls the above-mentioned emotions and remains steadfast in Krishna consciousness is truly in the transcendental state, that is, Brahmanirvana. The eightfold system of Ashtanga Yoga is practiced in Krishna consciousness because the ultimate purpose is fulfilled. There is gradual improvement in the practice of Yama, Niyama, Asa Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. But these are only the prelude to the perfection that comes from devotional yoga. Only devotional yoga can bring eternal peace. That is the supreme perfection of life.

The Bhaktivedanta commentary on the chapter “Karma Yoga – Karma in Krishna Consciousness” in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita concludes.
